Cruise the Mary River. Heritage homes, historic buildings.
Join 'Captain Denis' and his crew aboard 'The Mary' for a relaxing cruise from the historic Port of Maryborough along the Mary River.

Enjoy a cup of tea whilst sailing past stately heritage homes and historic buildings! Observe sea eagles, pelicans and other wildlife along the river. During the cruise an informed commentary will explain the history and points of interest on the voyage.

For visitors aboard 'The Mary', the tour gives an insight into the industrial story of this historic Queensland port, as well as the prominent people who built their stately homes along the river banks.

Heading upstream, the cruise boat passes the site of the old port, recently refurbished as 'Portside', where wharfing, gardens and pathways border the exceptionally well-preserved buildings of Wharf Street.

As 'The Mary' idles along the river at a leisurely pace, Denis keeps up an informative commentary telling of the Granville Bridge and its hefty tolls, Walker's days of shipbuilding, the Sugar Mill and the trials of the Hyne Sawmill, which was relocated after the disastrous flood of 1893.

The downstream loop of the tour is an architectural treat taking in the early Queensland homes built along the Mary River in the affluent area of Doon Villa. The graceful curves of these homes contrast to the sharp lines of the state-of-the-art Brolga Theatre, built to resemble the Wilson and Hart Sawmill which had previously occupied the site for more than a century.

A cruise on the Mary River offers broad appeal - it's ideal for Wide Bay residents who haven't seen the city from the river, as well as overseas visitors who get a unique insight into Queensland's past.

'The Mary' can accommodate 50 passengers and has 360 degree views of the passing scenes.

'The Mary' is available for charter for that special group, special occasion or celebration.
